“What fascinates me is to put rare and not-so-rare repertoire into perspective, to recreate the sound and spirit of an epoch, and to combine well-known works with repertoire that has remained in the shadows: as we were able to do with the Dichter Trio in our album on Schumann (An Invitation at the Schumanns’ - Harmonia Mundi 2023). What moves me is to immerse myself in a story, in a piece of writing, without necessarily imagining a break between repertoires, but rather trying to find the right interpretation and the right sound.”
A laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire, Hanna Salzenstein is part of a new generation of musicians for whom the divide between “baroque” and “modern” musicians is no longer as significant as it once was.
Whether with the ensemble le Consort alongside Théotime Langlois de Swarte, Justin Taylor and Sophie de Bardonnèche, or as a chamber musician with the Dichter Trio, which she co-founded with Théotime Langlois de Swarte and pianist Fiona Mato, the deep, sensitive sound of her instrument is a marvel and a sensation, from Bach to Dall Abaco, from Garavaglia to Vivaldi, from Schumann to Debussy.

l'orchestre le Consort
Following on from her first solo album, "E il violoncello suonò", Hanna Salzenstein's second opus continues the story of the emergence of the solo cello in early 18th-century Italy, focusing on the concerto repertoire for solo cello and orchestra at a time shortly after the birth of the concerto itself. The concerto is the genre most emblematic of an instrument's emancipation. It is the setting for a demonstration of the virtuosity and expressive depth unique to the cello. She will be accompanied by the ensemble Le Consort. Released in early 2025 on the Mirare label, the album was awarded a Choc Classica.
